Blogging guidelines

Blogs are websites where students can write on an ongoing basis. New articles or ‘posts’ show up at the top of the page, so it’s easy to read what’s new. Blogging connects students with a wide audience and thus provides an authentic purpose for writing.  It enables students to practice their literacy and ICT skills.

All students must abide by the general internet acceptable use policies of our school.

These added guidelines ensure safety for all students while blogging:

  • Posts written by students are checked by a teacher before they are published on the blog.
  • Students will only use their first name when posting or commenting on the blog.
  • Posts will not include personal details about students such as addresses or family information.
  • Students must have parental permission before their photo is published on the blog.
  • All comments are to be positive and encouraging
  • Parents who leave comments are asked to use their first name only so as not to identify their child.
  • All comments are moderated before being made public.

Here are some excellent blogs for you to have a look at. Scroll through and get some ideas for what we can add to our class blog.
